The final day! I've made it through ten days of challenges and I succeeded. I loved doing this and I appreciate all the people supporting me and my blog. It really is heartwarming to hear all the positive comments and it really keeps me motivated to keep on doing this. And I will keep on blogging! As of tomorrow I will go back to regular postings. Back to my daily life again.
I guess I would like to say; Thank you! Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, to comment and to spend your valuable time on this page.. It is very much appreciated! :)
This quote is one of my favourites. I heard it a long time ago already and ever since it keeps reminding me of the fact that you don't always have to succeed in order to be of value. Succes is not always needed. Failure can just be as valuable. It's all about learning. That brings me to another quote: 'Failure is succes if we learn from it'. You will succeed in life, we will succeed in life. Just keep going strong. Keep your head up high and keep moving forward. Keep dreaming and don't lose faith. It'll work out in the end. Everything will be alright. Take care.
Money - People say money can't bring happiness. True. If you just have money, you won't end up being happy. It's the money that allows you to do stuff that makes you happy that makes you happy. I've been working my ass off this year to earn enough money to be able to travel again; which is what makes me happy. So in this case, money actually does make me happy. It brings me that much closer to one of the things that actually makes me happy; travelling. Laughing - Laughing in general is one of the best cures in life for just about anything. Illness, heartbreak, worries, whatever. Make someone laugh and it automatically cleares their head. It work the same for me. A smile can make a true difference and being around someone that makes me smile will make me happy. That's for sure. Good news - If you want to make me happy. Tell me something good. Tell me something I want to hear. It's easy like that. If I get good news, I will probably be happy just like anyone else. Good training - Whenever I go to training, chances are 95% that I will go home with a smile on my face. Not every training goes well, but it's also about the fun we have during training and the people I train with. I have a great group of people at my gym, so having fun is not that hard. And not just in Holland does training make me happy. Wherever I am, if I train, I end up with a smile. It was proven to me in Thailand and Brazil. Nothing beats a good training.
Five qualities of your ideal boy Loyalty - Everyone should have this quality. Luckily most people do, especially towards their loved ones. It makes a person trustworthy, and trust might be just as important as loyalty in a relationship. Love - Goes without saying. Attitude - Attitude towards life, towards other people, towards anything really. Have an opinion about things. Disagree with others at times. Not just 'YES' to everything. Sometimes he needs to make you work for what you want. Instead of giving you everything you ask for. A strong independent person, with an healthy, positive attitude towards life. Smart - I guess I'd like him to be smart as well. We're talking about relationship-material here, not babysitting a two-year-old. If he doesn't know about anything in this world it's probably not going to work out. I'm not talking smart as in educational. You can also be smart because you've been through a lot, seen lots of places or just have a clear mind. It makes a person interesting. Smell - And last but certainly not least. When a boy smells good, oh man. Makes loving just that much more easy.
Six memories of your childhood Camping on summer holidays - When I was younger, every summer we would go camping for three weeks. We always went to a different part of France. Mostly close to the beach but sometimes we headed up the mountains. I loved it, time after time. Bullying - Sad but true, I was bullied for many years but luckily I gained more confidence and the bullying stopped. Looking back it is still sad but it gave me a couple of gifts too. I'm able to read people in a split second and I can easily tell if a person is trustworthy. Bullying is something no kid should have to go through. It's lower than the ground we walk on. Talking people down for your own benefit and because it looks 'cool'. The day I realized the bullying had actually stopped and I didn't have to be afraid anymore is still fresh in my memory. My life got more fun after that, way more fun. Going kayaking at the lakes - We've got a lot of nature in the part of Holland I live in. Close to my home are a couple of big lakes (big as in 'big for holland, not comparable to other countries..') and in summertime we'd go and hire some kayaks to go kayaking for the rest of the day. We'd leave in the morning, pack some lunch and we'd just paddle all day. Go to one of the islands, swim some more and in the evening when the sun was about to set and the musquitos would start to come out, we would paddle back to shore and call it a day. Sunburned like a cooked lobster but we never cared. Those were the times. Pancake-wednesday - This one says it all. Every wednesday evening my mom would make us pancakes. What more could a kid wish for. Put everything in my pockets - For about a year or two I developed the strange habit of putting everything I found on the streets in my pockets. With as a result; pockets filled with rocks, sticks, pieces of paper, plastic etc. I still don't know why this started nor do I exactly know when it stopped. I only know it stopped at one point because I no longer have this strange habit. Snorkeling - As mentioned above we would always go camping during our summer holidays. We went to the Mediteranian Sea a dozen times and snorkelling there is just amazing. All the colours and different fish species. It's like a piece of art. Whenever we would go to the beach we would bring our gear and snorkle for hours. It's not just a memory of my childhood, I still love to do this. Something started young, but still enjoyed nowadays.
Get rich of memories - Says it all. I hope I will never lose my precious memories and I hope I will keep making more and more. You get more memories every day, but some are special. The special ones stick to you like glue. I hope mine never let go, and that only more good ones will add to it!
Actually finish my study - After taking two years off, I'm actually starting University in September. I think I chose the right one. I'm excited to start and to discover what more life has to offer. If all goes well it should take about four years for me to finish my study. And after that, I'm going to take over the world. Easy as that, so better be prepared.
Never stop travelling - Travelling is one of the greatest things a human being can do. Fortunatly I've seen so much already, but I want to go see so many more places. The world is right there, at your feet. Ready to be discovered. Travelling might not be as easy for me next year as it is right now because of University but hopefully I still get to travel during my study. And for sure I will be travelling again when I'm done. Hopefully to places where I can mean a difference to people because of my education. I'm hoping my study is giving me a chance to do in-field research all around the world, which means even more travelling and giving something back to the people that aren't as fortunate as us.
Get a job that doesn't feel like a job - As I said, I hope I can do research all around the world about how people and their cultures work. I want to give back to the people that aren't as fortunate as most of us. I don't care about getting rich or driving an expensive car. I just want a job, that I don't mind going to when I wake up and one that doesn't keep me from travelling. I don't want to be working just to earn money to be able to travel. I want a job that needs me to travel, to go see different places all around the world.
Win my fights - Of course, everyone always wants to win. That's the reason you're competing right? I want to win my fights, and I'm going to work for it. It will probably be worth it in the end. Hard work pays off, said that many times before but it's true!
Be happy and be or become a good person - I guess everyone wants to be happy. I am happy right now and I hope I will be for the rest of my life. I don't want to have to try my whole life to be happy. The good things in life come in small packages. Learn to appreciate small things in life and happiness will come right to you. I strive to be a good person as well, not always as easy as it may seem and I'm still learning everyday. But again, that's what life's about right?
Live in a place that has a warmer climate than Holland - this one doesn't need an explanation. I do much better when I'm in a warmer climate. I need to move to a place somewhere beneath the equator. I don't know where yet, but that'll come to me.
Eight people you treasure most Today's challenge is a tough one. I didn't have to think twice about who means the most to me. It's explaining why that's really hard. These people know I care about them very much and I feel it's a little inappropriate to put things online about people that mean so much to me. So for today I'll just present a list of names, these people know I love them. These are the ones I treasure the most: Mom, Dad, Tessa, Sophie, Jeferson, My trainers, Grandparents, Buddha
Nine places you want to visit Chengdu - I have always wanted to go here to volunteer at the Giant Panda Center. That's something that's on top of my bucketlist. Myanmar/Birma - This is a country that is been going through some major changes and I would love to go here to see what it is like. The country has only just been 'opened' for tourists, or at least, it's easier now for travellers to enter the country. Which doesn't mean it's easy.. North-Korea - Don't ask me why. I don't even know exactly why I want to go here, but I want to. There's something about this place that attracts me. Maybe it's because this country is different from all the others. They've still got a pretty big communism-deal going on and I'm just interested to see what that is like for a country. But it's so so so expensive to go there.. Africa - I don't have one particular place in Africa I would like to see. It has always been a dream for me to go to multiple places when I go there. I would love to go to Kenya, Uganda, South-Africa, Ethiopia, Namibia, Madagascar, Tanzania, Malawi and maybe even more. It's not always safe to go places in Africa and I would never go somewhere if it was too dangerous, but sometimes you have to take a little risk to get the most out of it. Hopefully I can go to some of these places during my study! Hong Kong - Something about this city attracts me. I'm going here one day, no doubt about it. Rio de Janeiro - This is for obvious reasons of course. One of my best friends lives in this city and next to that, it's also a great city. I've been here already this year (6th-16th of January) but I am definitely going back, hopefully sooner than later! Paris - One of the big advantages of living in Europe is that big, famous cities are never that far away. Paris is one of my favourite cities and it's fairly close. I've been here so many times already and I will be going there many times more. It really is a beautiful city. It has class, style, history and just brings out the best in you. Just think of a warm summer evening, walking along the Seine, looking at all the Parisians living their normal lives, after having a great dinner earlier that evening. A person can't get much happier at that moment. Only a three-hour trainride away from my home, it's easy like that! Zoutelande - This is a small beachtown in the southwest of Holland, very close to Belgium. My dad's family used to go here all the time when he was younger and we sort of took over that tradition. There not really much to do there other than walk along the beach and just take it the fresh air. That's what I love about this place. When you're there, you just get calm. It's all peace and quiet when you're there, it feels like time slows down. A brilliant way of getting away from your daily life for a little bit. Ameland - This is one of the islands in the north of Holland. I like this place for the exact same reasons as Zoutelande. Only this place was a family tradition of my mom's family. I can't wait to go there again.
Ten adjectives to descrive yourself Caring - I try to take care of my loved ones. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it's hard. But if someone needs caring, I will try my best to be there for that person in the best way I can at that moment. Loving - Every person owns this quality. For some it might come easy, others might struggle with this. For me, most of it comes easy. I love certain people and those people know it. It comes naturally. Sometimes I have to work a little harder. But I will always try to be a loving person. I will always respect people's dignity. Everyone deserves a chance. If they screw it up themselves, it's out of my hands. I try to do the best I can, still learning on a daily base. Loyal - Loyalty, I think, is something everyone should have. It's not easy to be loyal. It's easier to mess things up and I have certainly learned from things in my past. I'm still learning every day and I always find that loyalty is one of the strongest things a person can carry. It builds character. A loyal friend is probably a good one, one you should always treasure. Honest - I will always try say what's on my heart. Give my honest opinion, even when that means it might hurt someone a little. I will not try to hurt someone on purpose but sometimes the truth stings. That said, I will also be honest if I really like something. I will show appreciation and say what's on my mind. Courage - I've never been a pussy. I have almost no fears. There's not much I wouldn't do. Call me courageous, call me crazy. I would never do something without considering the possible consequences , but if the consequences aren't too bad, you'll probably see me go. You only live once right. Rich - I'm rich bitch, and I'm not talking about money. It's about memories, things shared with other people. Things I've seen, came across, witnessed or took part in. I'm rich of experience and this will only get more. I will never be a poor soul. Well, only if amnesia doesn't hit me.. But then we've still got the pictures! Smart - I'm blessed to be able to have the opportunity to attent University in Holland. I worked hard to be able to and even though I took two years off of studying to go travelling instead, I will be going back to school. University starts in September and I will be attending it. Perseverance - I'm a fighter, literally but also at heart. I don't like to quit. I might not like the way of how to get something done, and I might complain about everything I have to do but you will not see me quit. Not now, not ever.If the goal is set, it's there to be reached. Better work for it and don't give up. Strong - I'm strong for a girl, I punch hard. But I also got a strong mentality. I've been through stuff that build me up strong. I've seen things in my daily life, at my jobs, among my friends and in places which made me strong at heart. People tell me I'm a strong person. Sometimes you just have to hold on. Stay strong, make them wonder why you're still smiling. I'm still smiling, that's for sure.
