Pai thie Koh Samui

Koh Samui time! After almost missing my flight yesterday I made it to Koh Samui in one piece and arriving at the gym felt like coming home. It literally feels like I was here yesterday, not much has changed and everything is the same. Like I never left. My close friend Sheena is here as well, so these next two weeks should be great. This morning I started training here and it such a relief that training here starts at 8.00 in the morning. It actually feels like sleeping in! After training we went to get some breakfast and then we had to do some important stuff; BEACH. At Sitmonchai it's so hot and nowhere to go for a swim so having the ocean here (and a pool at the gym) is awesome to say the least. So we spend some time at the beach, worked on our tan and then headed back to the gym to sleep a bit before the afternoon training starts. That will start in a bit. Here are some pictures of today. Enjoy.

Made it just in time for my flight..

AAAAND WE'RE BACK. BEACH.

We stumbled upon an icecream-seller that happend to be the exact same person we talked to for ages last year on my final day on Samui. He remembered us and sang us a little song before persuading us into buying an icecream off of him. We did buy the icecream, and this guy was great. He'll probably still be here next year!

Yes, I definitely need to work on my tan.

And Sheena

Riding around on motorbikes all day long, sweeeet

Pasta Pesto

I just wanted to share this sweet little moment with you. Abigail secretly made me and Moira some pasta pesto this afternoon and it was awesome. It's the little things in life that create happiness and after eating only rice for about four weeks now I can say I'm so sick of it so having some pasta was like heaven on earth. This pasta made my day. I tasted so good. My legs are almost healed so I'll try to train again tomorrow morning. Thursday I'm off to Koh Samui for two weeks to visit my gym of last year and to spend some time with my friends there. I'll still be training but also relaxing for a bit. I will return to Sitmonchai around the 15th of May and then I'll start training hard again. Probably fighting again somewhere in the beginning of June. I'll keep you guys updated about that. I'm really excited about going back to Koh Samui but it's a bit weird as well. Lived there for four months last year and now I get to go back. We'll see how it will be. The one thing I have been dying to do is swim so that's something I will do right away. It's so hot around here and there's literally no place where you can go for a swim. Still living the good life here. Take care!

Boredom and Pictures

It's saturday evening and I'm bored to tears. I haven't trained for a week now and I'm getting so tired of having too much energy and nowhere to put it. I tried training this morning but that wasn't really a big succes. After two rounds of pads my legs called it a day and I was done. My upperleg still hurts and walking around is still not easy. I need to be patient, recovery takes time. Don't rush things. Hmm yeah, I'm so bored. So that's also why I'm updatting my blog, as I got nothing better to do.

This is how my legs are today. Today was saturday, my fight was wednesday. It's healing up nice and easy. The bruises aren't getting bigger anymore and the worst pain has gone already. I can't wait for it to be 100% again though..

This is a picture Artem took the night of my fight, when Pee A was wrapping my hands. I love this picture.

Me and Danny (another guy at the gym) were both supposed to fight at MBK last wednesday but as we arrived to BKK we got told Danny's fight had been cancelled. The promoters at MBK tried to fix another match to make up for Danny's fight dropping out. They asked Kongfah (my trainer) if he wanted to fight and to no surprise he said yes (he didn't train at all but that's just how they roll here..). He fought a trainer from another gym and after three rounds they called it a draw. The fight was more of a 'give-back' to the audience for the other fight dropping out so they put up quite a show. This fight got quite a lot of people to stop and watch as an 'ex-Lumpinee Champion' was fighting at MBK. Here are some pictures of the fight (Kongfah is in the red).

Flying knees, flying elbows, strong punches and all with a smile.

Just arrived at MBK, all signed up, got the red corner. Now we just had to wait.

Internet at the gym is so slow at times so every once in a while we go to Amazon cafe to get a nice smoothy and good wifi. As we were sitting there the other day a whole group of monks walked in, all ordering iced coffee. Gotta love Thailand.

At breakfast this morning, another day, another training, everyday's routine.

We decided to get a massage today as we were all in pain so a trainer took us to this nice massage place and we got a good solid massage. I felt so relaxed afterwards. It was kind of awkward having to change into these clothes but all for the greater good I guess..

Hmm so I guess that's it for now. I'll update my blog soon again. I'm actually doing a pretty good job at keeping my blog up to date lately! Let's not Jinx it.. Take care!

Fight at MBK BKK

I lost my fight on points yesterday but it was a good fight. Everyone was really proud of the way I handled the fight and I learned a lot. I was really relaxed and compared to last year's fight I actually felt like I knew what I was doing. My left leg is completely busted and my nose hurts like fuck but I feel happy. Pain is just temporary. I got a couple of rest days coming up before getting back to training. May 2nd I'll go to Koh Samui for about two weeks to relax and after that, back to training and hopefully some more fights.
My fight was recorded but internet is being a bitch lately so uploading is going to take a while. I'll post a link as soon as it's online. For now, here are some pictures that were take last night.

Pee A wrapped my hands, rock solid. This man is a master at doing so.

All dressed and ready to go

Little warming up right before the fight

I never knew I could be this relaxed three minutes before entering the ring

During the fight I didn't really feel any pain. But as soon as the fight was over and I stepped out of the ring the reality started kicking in and I could feel my left leg shutting down. I'd didn't really check her lowkicks so I took quite a few of them. I couldn't really walk properly yesterday and the bruise is starting to come out. Other than that I'm not really hurt. Like I said, I'm happy with the result, I gave it my best and I learned a lot. On to the next one.

Still smiling after my fight! Proud to have fought for Sitmonchai.
